started practising some value studies. Practicing lightsources and describing everything with value rather than line or colour is quite helpful! :D Besides - the quick sketches help me take my mind of work and stuff :)

Hello I'm back 8D
And look whom I brought with me. Ian Crumbwright. He's quite an elegant gentleman (although he's not really a gentleman because he's more of a gentlemanatee but that doesn't sound anything as elegant as gentleman :B )
He's choice of garment is quite exquisite really.

My computer's back up from the half dead after a visit to the PC ripoff doctor :B So I decided to rejoice with a quick sketch of a sexy lady - in this case my OC Laura :B Because is there a better way to celebrate than drawing big boobies? :B ...Yeah propably there is :B

I'm working on another fantasy god portrait for my LKL project :3. Here's a snipet (or more precisely a head) of it :B

As I was finishing the head it reattached itself from the screen and went to search for a proper body :| It's arabian head from outer space D:

Colour your world walkthrough

Dew to me turning 23 yesterday (yaaaay 8D ) I decided to post a little walkthrough of my newest piece 'Colour your world' - a trade with Asheltots from dA :3
Nothing to fancy because I feel I'm not skilled enough for a tutorial of my own x)

First stage is a pencil lineart. I usually do one sketch and than change it as long as I feel is necesary. So hence quadruple lines, dirtyness and overall sketchyness x)

Next step is of course digital cleanup on another layer - I use a normal round brush with pen pressure for it. I know that you could use pen tool but I find it a little too even for my style 83
As you can see I'm doing some changes here (of course if I forget something and I always do D: there's always the scale-distort-warp mode xD or the really pain-in-the-ass redraw method which I loathe D: )
I ommited the flying weasel because I couldn't get it right ._. Also some size issues on the hand and foot.

Aaah - next is the most tidiuos part for me - the flats D: (dun dun duuuun) Nothning more irritating than to not be able to choose colours that would fit with one another - I always found that hard ._.
I do most of the big bits like the hair, skin or clothing on seperate layers - it will be easeier that way to shade them later 83
I splash the colour, erase the unneeded edges and again and again D8 I guess there are simplier methods but baaah 8|
After the flats I usually do basic first background sketch (if it's complicated) or just do the whole thing if I feel like it (like in this piece :3 ) to get the feel of the drawing and to see from where the light would come.

After all the flats are done I start the shading 8D I create aother layer on top of the basic colour layer (like the hair) and I create a clipping mask out of it :3 That way I cannot colour any place besides the chosen basic layer :3 I use a a basic round brush and spatter brush on low (about 30%) opacity and pen pressure. Just remember to choose your shade colours wisely D: If I got problems choosing the right one I use the colour wheel. I don't use the burn and dodge tools - esspecially not in digital paintings - because the effects the give are too fake. And if you must use it - remember to not O.D. on it x) It's not healthy D: (of course if it's a shiny metal thingie your excused - those tools make a beautiful bling bling xD - but again - the less the better D:)

Anywas remember about the lightning source and the backlight 83

And the finished piece 8D I added a watercolour texture set on linear burn mode on the whole piece to enhance the colours a bit and give it a snazzy feel 8D You can find bigger version of it here 83
